The inaugural Rose Festival Twilight Criterium presented by Colorbiotics will be held Friday June 19th, 2009 with racing to begin at 4:30 pm and wrapping up at 9:00 pm. The Junior boys and girls will start it off, followed by 3 classes of kids races (big wheel, with training wheels, and without training wheels). The kids’ races are free and there will be a special prize for each entrant! Helmets are required. Register on site at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, at 605 1st St, State Center. After the kids races, there will be 4 more races for the evening - Senior 4/5, Women’s Open and 4’s, Masters 40+, 50+, & 60+, and the Senior’s 1/2/3 will finish off the night competing for a purse of $375 out of a total prize list of just under $1100!
A criterium is a bicycle race held on a short, closed course loop which challenges the fitness and handling skills of the racers. The Rose Festival course is .7 miles in length. For spectators, this means the peloton will pass by approximately every 2 minutes, providing for a very entertaining event. Bring your lawn chairs, cowbells, and enjoy the race!
